The Motley Reworker is a digital notebook compiled by a layperson from trusted sources. It helps answer a practical question: how do people navigate the unpredictability of climate change?

The old resilience model often implied that the expert had the answers and the layperson’s job was simply to follow instructions.

Climate navigation changes that. Experts are still important. They offer knowledge, skills, and services. But the everyday person is the one who brings everything together, combining climate information with what they know about themselves, their home, finances, health, family, and goals. They use that personalized information to make practical decisions. No expert has that knowledge.

A contractor may know roofs, an electrician may know wiring, and a scientist may know climate trends. But only you and the people you live with know the texture of daily life: which room overheats, when the basement turns damp, what groceries spoil first, how the budget stretches, and which routines are easy to change. Those details add up, creating a picture that only the people living it can fully see.

That is why climate navigation cannot be handed off completely. You can hire help, learn from experts, and use trusted sources, but the ongoing work of noticing, deciding, adapting, and learning belongs to the people living through it.

Most people cannot solve climate change. But they can learn how to navigate it.
