🐝 Climate: Bee Facts & ID Sheet: Help the Bees in Your Backyard!
Page 1: Bee Facts for Curious Kids (and Adults!)

Why Do We Need Bees? 🐝
Bees help grow many of the foods we love—like apples, berries, cucumbers, and even chocolate!
They do this by moving pollen from one flower to another. This process is called pollination. Without pollinators like bees, many plants wouldn’t grow fruits or seeds.
Why Are Bees Disappearing?
Some bee populations are getting smaller. Here’s why:
☁️ Not enough wild places for bees to live
🧴 Too many pesticides (plant sprays that harm insects)
🌼 Fewer wildflowers for food
🌡️ Climate change is affecting when flowers bloom
How Can You Help the Bees?
✅ Plant bee-friendly flowers (like sunflowers, clover, and wildflowers)
✅ Make a bee stopover hotel (check out our Ere Bee and Bee project!)
✅ Leave some wild spaces—let parts of your yard grow a little messy
✅ Say no to pesticides (or ask your grown-ups to use bee-safe methods)
